Continuing
with some of the trend research off WGSN ive pulled inspiration boards of some of the
key colours that are predicted for children's bedroom interiors. They describe
the colours as becoming more sophisticated, which I think fits with cool modern
vibe of the bioluminescence concept.
This
continues the monochrome colour scheme idea, which offers a more gender neutral
interior. The bottom right image has a very simple stars and rockets pattern,
which I know I said I thought we should avoid but it is obviously in at the
moment. This colour trend also describes adding an interactive element to the
wall coverings.. Which is what we are wanting to do! So I think this shows
there is definitely a market for wall coverings for kids, which have a bit of
something extra!
The
monochrome colour trend says it works well with bright accent colours.
I’ve selected some colour inspiration of WGSN that is similar to that of the colours we have seen the bioluminescence emit so far.
We could maybe included these colours into the normal designs so they are seen during the day and then even more so at night

Turquoise
and ice blues are both seen as suitable for girls and boys. I think going down
the gender neutral route would make things much easier for us in the design
stages and marketing stages. Taking into consideration what Katie has found about children sharing bedrooms, there is the potential that young girls and boys are sharing, so gender neutral would obviously be important here. Obviously we will need to do market research and
test this idea?
Pale
purples are also on trend for kids interiors.. So if we do want to go down the
route of different colour ways for a more traditional girl/boy market, then
this would be a good colour to use for girls I guess?
Seems like we're coming up with some good stuff!
